Hello First im not a student in your school (would love to be) but ive been doing martial arts a while now. I have been learning the northen styles, but am falling in love with the larger quantity of fisrt work and style in the southen styles. I Was woundering if any of your teachers would be intrested in doing a class in brighton, the martial arts comunity is pretty big down here, and im sure you could get a large enough class to do it. We currently have a few school down, shaolin temple uk do a class down here, and so does Bernie Page both hold lessons on a wednesday. There is also a wing tsun class on a tuesday. I would come up to london but cant afford the train or do i really have time at the moment. Either way keep doing what you guys are doing and one day i hope to train with or under you.

Hi Axel
I'm speaking for Sifu Leung on this so hopefully I am not speaking out of turn.
Our school is a little different in that it is operated essentially as a non-profit organisation. The standard of the students, plus the continuing development of the art of Southern Mantis Kung Fu is the priority.
With this in mind, it's not in our (particular) best interests to travel around, since students, Sifu etc all have businesses or work. And we are lucky enough to learn from Sifu at all since he does not benefit financially from the running of the school. The school is also run quite traditionally, Sifu does hardly any advertising, if any at all. This website is about as much advertising as we do. We keep our classes very small so strange as it may seem it's in our interests to keep our school fairly out of the public eye. If students really want to learn with us, then they will find us and find a way to train with us. For example, in my early years of Southern Mantis, I would finish work every Monday, travel 200 miles, train for 5 hours, then travel 200 miles back home again and go to work the next day, often black and blue and aching head to toe. If you really want something neither work, nor other commitments will get in your way.
The value of something is directly related to the value you place on it, and that is part of the path.
I am not saying that our way is right or wrong, better or worse - it is just the way that Sifu Leung chooses to teach. And since he is our Sifu we can and do respect that.
If you are overly busy, it sounds like there is plenty going on in your town, these other schools might be a good place to start your training to see if you like it - and if you do, then you can make your decisions from there.
Good luck in your training, and perhaps we'll see you at the London school sometime in the future
